Das neue Marilyn Manson Live-Album "The Last Tour On Earth" wird von vielen Kritikern in Grund und Boden gestampft: VISIONS: "Nein, besinnlich würde man das Livedokument "The Last Tour On Earth" wohl nicht nennen wollen, das brennende Kreuz auf dem Cover macht sich unterm Weihnachtsbaum dennoch ganz gut. Ob man dieses Album aber unter musikalischen Gesichtspunkten wirklich benötigt, sei einmal dahingestellt. Denn bahnbrechende Erkenntnisse erwarten einen hier nicht gerade. Lediglich ein neuer Song ("Astonishing Panorama Of The Endtimes") ist enthalten, ansonsten werden hier die größten Hits abgefeiert, darunter "The Beautiful People", "The Dope Show", "I Don`t Like The Drugs" und das Eurythmics-Cover "Sweet Dreams" samt "Hell Outro". ROLLING STONE USA: "Nach den letzten beiden Studio-Alben erscheint nun das Live-Album Mansons "The Last Tour On Earth". 3 von 6 möglichen Punkten. HÖRER-REZENSION AMAZON.DE: Diese Live-CD ist nur ein weiterer Punkt in dem enttäuschenden Wirken dieser Band. Wie konnte sich Trent Reznor (NIN) nur mit diesen Einfaltspinseln abgeben. Aber heute geht er ja auch lieber auf Distanz. Der Marilyn-Manson-Brei bleibt schlicht und einfach elendiglich langweilig. Uninspirierter, aber letztlich clever verkaufter Aufguss eines pervertierten David-Bowie-Epigonen. Wer es nicht zum echten Schauspieler gebracht hat, versucht es eben als Pop(!)-Star mit den kleinen, leicht zu verwirrenden Teenagern. Aber es ist nur schlechte Musik mit gar nichts dahinter. Kann man nur gratulieren, dass Marilyn Manson den Einnahmen dieser CD zuliebe aussergewoehnlicherweise mal durchgespielt haben. Kommt nicht allzu oft vor. Letzten Endes muss aber auch ich eingestehen: Kunst ist nach Niklas Luhmann lediglich das, was Beobachter in ihrem eigenen Sinne unterscheiden - unterscheiden von dem, was nicht Kunst ist. Und wenn einige profilneurotische Musikjournalisten und verwirrte Teenies glauben, das sei Kunst, sollen sie eben damit selig werden. -Somit können wohl nur Fans Marilyn Mansons mit diesem genialen Album was anfangen.

Nach dem Marilyn Manson mit dem letzten Home-Video "Dead To The World" doch guten Erfolg in Amerika hatte ist "God is in the T.V." nicht in die TOP 50 gekommen. Auch in Deutschland schaffte es nicht in die TOP 50 der Videos. (thx2: Nicolai)
Trent Reznor erzählte neulich folgendes über Marilyn Manson: "Ihr ultimatives Ziel war es, zu Stars zu werden. Ihnen ging es nur darum mit der Musik in den heiligen Club der Stars zu kommen. Von denen bin ich enttäuscht. Allerdings werde ich mich jetzt nicht mit konkreten Anschuldigen um mich werfen oder persöhnliche Differenzen in der Öffentlichkeit preisgeben. Das ist nicht meine Art. Nur so viel: Ich hätte nicht erwartet, von Marilyn Manson, die ich mal als eine meiner wenigen Freunde waren so verletzt zu werden."
Unter Yahoo.de findet man jetzt einen neuen Bericht in dem bestätigt wird, dass Manson seinen Namen nicht in ein Symbol umwandeln wird. Das Merkur-Zeichen wird lediglich als Symbol für sein demnächst erscheinendes neues Album "The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death" verwendet, ähnlich wie auch schon das Omega-Symbol für "Mechanical Animals".
In der Marilyn Manson Newsgroup habe ich ein Interview mit Trent Reznor gefunden in dem er auch über Marilyn Manson spricht: "I would like to produce more when NIN doesn't take up all of my time. To work with Manson's Antichrist Superstar was very rewarding. I also produced the first, but that wasn't where we did it right. It was a group of guys, who were very close and had some ideas, and I felt that I was capable of helping them carry out these ideas. Help them be as ridiculous or threatening, or however they wanted it to be. At one point we had a talk and they said: 'We wanna be cool'. So my response was: 'Fuck being cool. Let's make it ridiculous, let's exaggerate it.'" Das ganze Interview kann man hier lesen.
Die offizielle Marilyn Manson-Homepage berichtet, dass Courtney Love ihr früheres Management verklagt hat, da es ihr erlaubt wurde als Vorband mit Manson aufzutreten: In the rock equivalent of jumping off a building and then suing the owners because they didn't stop you, Hole fired its management team and then sued them for, among other things, subjecting the band to "public ridicule" by allowing it to tour as the opening act for Marilyn Manson. While on the trek, Hole leader Courtney Love seemed shocked at Manson's demonic theatrics, as if she'd had no previous awareness of his act. Probably more troubling to Love was appearing in front of crowds that were sometimes hostile and often indifferent to her band.

Marilyn Manson war mit manchen seiner "Fans" nicht sehr zufrieden und hinterließ auf seiner offiziellen Website folgende Nachricht: I want to make a statement to clarify to those too quick to judge or too stupid to understand what I said earlier this week. The persona of “Omega” has always been a satire and an exaggeration of what “commercial America” thinks a rock star should be and act. However, my album MECHANICAL ANIMALS has never at any point been insincere. I stand by those songs and every song I’ve written 100% and consider each to be a piece of a greater work. If being “Omega” managed to capture the attention of a few MTV viewers during a godforsaken, rockless year of rap-metal-hip-hop bullshit and I opened their minds just a crack, my job was done. So that way of thinking and the symbol OMEGA are dead. I have adopted the symbol of MERCURY and shed my skin once again to feed the fake. My name is still Marilyn Manson and I am here to stay and make each of you that fears, doubts, laughs at or hates me suffer as much as possible. Or at least rock. Finally, for each critic or skeptical fan that casts harsh words of hatred or misunderstanding upon my change (as you have on each change), remember those words always come back on your own head. Sometimes in insults, sometimes with fists and sometimes with guns. I look forward to a new creative process and THANK the fans who I have never forsaken. Your support is my blood. In response to some recent media interpretations of Manson’s web chat it should be clarified that Marilyn Manson is NOT changing his name to a symbol and will as always remain Marilyn Manson. The symbol of Mercury that Manson referred to in his web cast will be used as the symbol for the upcoming Marilyn Manson record in “THE SHADOW OF THE VALLEY OF DEATH” similar to the Omega symbol for “MECHANICAL ANIMALS” and the Shock symbol for “ANTICHRIST SUPERSTAR.”
Medosa, ein SLS-Besucher, hatte das Glück Ginger Fish auf dem 'Almost Acoustic Christmas' Konzert vergangene Woche zu treffen. "Er schien dort mit 4 Personen zu sein die gleich neben Paige Hailey von Orgy saßen. Ginger ist sehr ruhig und sagte nicht sehr viel weil er nach kurzer Zeit mit der Gruppe wegging. Er bedankte sich bei den Fans und den Radio Revolution Leuten für ihre Unterstützung. Er wirkt ziemlich schüchtern ist aber sehr nett." Medosa glaubt auch, dass sich noch weitere MM-Mitglieder auf dem Konzert befanden, doch Ginger war der einzige den er gesehen hat.

Manson said that the new album is meant to be the last part of the three-part musical story that started with 1996's "Antichrist Superstar" and continued on 1998's "Mechanical Animals." The former rock journalist has also shaved his head, giving him a look that closely resembles the vampire Nosferatu from the classic 1922 film of the same name. "This is the final piece of a triptych that I began with 'Antichrist Superstar,'" Manson said. "The character of Omega [from 'Mechanical Animals'] has been disposed of, as he was a ruse to lure the commercial mall-goers into the web of destruction that I've always planned since the beginning." Manson indicated that the band has written some 100 new songs for "In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death," and that the material was inspired by alchemy, slain President John F. Kennedy, the Bible, and his involvement with the spiritual group known as Ordo Templi Orientis. The themes of the new album will also tie in to Manson's film project, "Holy Wood" (see "Marilyn Manson To Probe Celebrity And Suffering In New Film, Next Album"), and both the new record and flick are expected out next year. "This is a soundtrack for a world that is being sold to kids," he wrote of the record, "and then being destroyed by them. But maybe that's exactly what it deserves." Marilyn Manson and band have been recording the new album in several "undisclosed" locations, including Death Valley (hence the LP's name), with the help of programmer Bon Harris and mixer Dave Sardy, who is also co-producing the album with Manson. In a Prince-like move, Manson has also adopted an emblem to represent himself, choosing the symbol of mercury because of its thematic relationship to the material slated for "In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death." "The [mercury] symbol is most commonly used in alchemy," Manson said. "It represents both the androgyne and the prima materia, which has been associated with Adam, the first man. And all of these things are major influences into the writing of the new album." IS ADULT ENTERTAINMENT KILLING OUR CHILDREN? “The title of our forthcoming album is “In the Shadow of the Valley of Death.” We have written over 100 songs that tell the story that will be presented in my upcoming film HOLY WOOD. But it’s all really a popularity contest now. Sadly and simply that poor girl and her classmates didn’t die for Christ or anyone else. She died because her head was where Dylan Klebold had his rifle aimed. We can all agree these deaths were unnecessary. So was my grandfather’s and your brother or dad or JFK or Christ himself. But let’s not make martyrdom a popularity contest based on cash, guilt and fear. I’m sure if they could bottle every tear we’ve shed in these events, they’d sell it back to us as bottled water. The crucifix is already the highest grossing mass-market piece of merchandise sold worldwide in the history of mankind. So where does that leave us? I say our art. That is all that makes us worth being alive. It’s surely not what drives us to death. Each artist is a duality. On one hand he has human feelings and on the other he is an impersonal machine or process. But you cannot understand his psyche; you can only understand his creative achievements. I am a vehicle. An artist cannot be expected to interpret what he does for us. It must change us and in the change, we become the interpretation. The answer.
There is a thin line between psychosis and creation. Who’s to say madness isn’t pure enlightenment?
